- They are always tasteful. Of course, given the level of musical education that they bring to the studio they make it look easy. And that’s what I love about AP Project: Smooth, beautiful mixes, innovative style and very, very cool grooves. Another point of strength of this work is that every instrument has its own moments, and they are all on the same level of importance. (Jamsphere Magazine - December 2019 Issue)
- The AP Project’s material consists of elaborate and often intricate arrangements, which do allow some room for improvisation, but are full of interesting twists and turns, changes of mood, effective use of dynamics, instrumental colors and can really take one on an imaginary journey of the listener’s own design. - When one thinks of jazz music generally they’ll be thinking of legendary musicians who lived many decades ago. This is not the case, as the ambitious and fruitful “Out of The Blue” proves that the current generation still genuinely have an interest for real instruments, musical theory and technical expertise. The album should be appetizing to those into jazz music in all its forms as well as fans of intriguing chill-out, and soulful music. (Jamsphere Magazine - December 2019 Issue)
- A kaleidoscopic collection of 8 tracks, each exploring different ideas and breaking the usual genre definitions. (thebandcampdiaries.com)
- One of the most amazing things about music as a form of expression is that it is more than the sum of its parts. Music is not notes, instruments, and people. Music is about elevation. It involves mastering a craft to tell a story, and share feelings with the world. AP Project’s new release, “Out Of The Blue,” is an exemplary personification of this remarkable attitude towards creativity and music. With their sound, the Italian combo set out to explore many different genres and ideas. The EP unfolds gently, but surely, from the sophistication of jazz to the warmth of R&B and the lush textures of ambient. (thebandcampdiaries.com)
- Ultimately, what I love about this EP is the fact that it’s not trying to be anything specific. From the get-go, the band will tell you that this isn’t an attempt to fit into any given genre, but rather the culmination of a desire to make music that matters, unrestrained by the usual constraints. Who says that you cannot have a rock guitar in a jazz album? Why can’t you feature songs with vocals, as well as instrumentals? This EP pushes all the right buttons and it stands out as a big statement against musical stiffness. Somewhere between the avant-garde and the traditional, the songs on this EP have one thing in common: they feel like a spontaneous flow of music. From the moment you hit the play button, you can’t help but notice the excellent care and attention to detail, which went into the making of this composition. Today, genre barriers don’t mean much anymore, and this is a trend that is even affecting music on a mainstream level (just think of artists like Billie Eilish, who can’t be thrown into an easy category). In Fact, it would not be a stretch to say that “diversity” is definitely a strong keyword when it comes to describing the sound of this release from Italy’s AP Project. (thebandcampdiaries.com)
