Cold Spring Jazz Quartet is delighted to announce the release of their second CD, Urban Pastoral. For over a decade CSJQ has appeared regularly in nightclubs, restaurants and concert venues in the Baltimore-Washington area, winning a broad and loyal following. The new disc is sure to enhance the group’s reputation as one of the region’s most popular and respected jazz groups. The title reflects the group’s versatility and range of influences. The group’s latest CD, Warming Trend, has received many accolades. In the Baltimore City Paper, Geoffrey Himes praised Mark Osteen’s “eloquent” solos for “carving out harmonic extensions in sure phrases that get straight to the point.” The Baltimore Jazz Alliance Newsletter’s reviewer Ali Brickman writes, “If you love Nutella-thick upright bass, enjoy your drums locked in, yet crisply restrained, and dig a classic sounding jazz ballad with aching minor themes, you'll be repaid by this album.”
