Daniel Ferreira

Born in Hollywood, FL, Daniel showed an interest in music at an early age and was gifted his first drum kit at the age of 10. He immediately fell in love with the instrument and joined the band programs in middle and high school, where he was a part of the marching band, percussion ensemble, wind ensemble, and jazz band. He went on to win multiple superior awards at the state level and first place at competitions and participated in All-County and All-District Honor bands. Daniel has competed with the WGI indoor percussion ensemble Revelation Percussion and was a semi-finalist at the 2017 Percussion World Championships in Dayton, Ohio. Daniel is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he finished with a B.M. with a concentration in Music Performance, where he studied with renowned percussionist/drummer, Rick Dior. 

Daniel has been performing as a freelance musician in the greater Charlotte area since 2017. From local restaurants and bars to taking the stage with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, his skillset is diverse. His talents have also taken him throughout the Southeast US, as well as abroad in Vancouver and France. Currently, Daniel acts as the percussionist in residence with Hope Covenant Church and can be seen performing with the Marcel Portilla Band, a Latin cover band that blends rock and traditional Latin rhythms for a unique musical experience. Also active in the jazz scene and performing in various jazz trios/quartets, Daniel co-founded The DJaM Collective, a jazz trio/quartet that performs both traditional and contemporary forms of jazz. He has performed at Charlotte's premier jazz club, Middle C, and occasionally helps host the Bill Hanna Legacy Jazz Jam Session at Petra's, which was voted the best venue to listen to jazz in 2021 by Queen City Nerve. He also regularly performs with Your Neighborhood Orchestra, which aims to bridge the gap between classical and modern styles of music.
