Dave Lynch

Dave is from Long Island, New York. He began playing guitar at 15, and then studied classical guitar music formally  between 1976 and 1978 at Long Island University as a Music major, but decided he wanted to pursue Jazz Music and changed his major. During the period of 1976-1980, Dave performed in various Club date, Wedding,  Progressive Rock, Southern Rock, and Jazz Fusion bands on Long Island. Two Bands called "Systymz" and "Millenia" performed in night clubs all over Long Island.    In 1980, he moved to Boston, MA where he studied privately with Robert Harrigan and Randy Roos at The Berklee College of Music.

He returned to Long Island in 1982. and studied privately for years with NY Jazz greats Mark Elf, Larry Meyer, Tal Farlow (NJ), Joe Monk, and pianist Sal Mosca. During this time, Dave worked part time as a Studio guitarist and Assistant Recording Engineer at Sabella Recording Studio on Long Island, and taught Music privately as well.

In 1992, he moved to Tampa, FL. He went back to school to complete his Undergraduate Music degree at The University of South Florida between 1999 and 2003, and has a BA degree in Music Education and Jazz Studies. During his time at USF Tampa, he was a member of the USF Jazz Ensemble Big Band, and studied privately with LaRue Nickelson and Corey Christiansen at USF.

Dave has worked in various Jazz Quartet, Trio and Quintet ensembles in the Tampa Bay area. including the Bernie Maloney Quartet. He worked as a Private Guitar, Bass, and Piano Instructor at The Tampa Music Academy, Don Banks Music, and Music Showcase in Brandon, FL. 

He was a member of "The Al Secen Jazz Workshop" Quartet as a Sideman, and has his own group, The Dave Lynch Quartet.  He  works with Guitarist Scott Murley and his group in the Tampa area. Dave has  performed in the Broadway show Stage Pit Band at the Jaeb Theatre (Straz Center) in Tampa for the Musical "Always Patsy Cline". 

 
Venues where Dave has performed include The Mahaffey Theatre and Palladium Theatre in St. Petersburg, FL., The Carrollwood Cultural Center, The Coliseum in St. Petersburg, FL., The Jaeb Theatre at The Straz Center in Tampa, Dellas After Dark in Brandon, FL., Positano's Restaurant, and The Blue Heron Restaurant in Palm Harbor, FL., The University of South Florida Theatre 1 & 2 ( The USF Jazz Big Band) , The Living Room in Clearwater, FL. , Ybor City , The Central Park Performijng Arts Center in Largo, FL.  and Higgins Hall in Tampa, as well as many private functions and events.
