Gioele Pagliaccia
Gioele Pagliaccia is a drummer, multi instrumentalist and composer born in Marsciano (Perugia) but raised between Italy, the United States and Santo Domingo.
Thanks to his step-dad he started playing percussion at age 8 but switched to drums three years later, teaching himself how to play by obsessively practicing over records by The Police, Primus, Fela Kuti, Slayer and John Coltrane. Around that time he also learned how to play both the acoustic and electric guitars with which he still composes all kinds of music.
After moving to the United States with his family in the mid 90’s and receiving his diploma from the Corvallis High School (OR), he lived and played in New York and San Francisco learning the language of jazz. After a few years he moved to Rome and quickly became part of the city's vibrant scene, performing with artists such as Pasquale Innarella, Henry Cook (Either Orchestra, Mulatu Astatke) and Manlio Maresca among others.
At age 25 he was asked to play with Fugazi’s bass player Joe Lally (also member of The Messthetics, Coriky and Ataxia along with John Frusciante and Josh Klinghoffer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers) with whom he still plays whenever possible.
After a three year stay in Berlin where he collaborated and played extensively with Gerhard Gschlößl, Johannes Fink, Igor Osypov and many others, he relocated to Italy. He now lives in Bologna.
Beside leading his own bands such as IL DUO feat. Will Bernard and the Eric Dolphy tribute Aut To Lunch, he is an accomplished session musician. In the fall of 2019 he toured Europe and recorded with legendary spiritual jazz enesemble Idris Ackamoor & The Pyramids on their last double LP, SHAMAN! released by Strut Records
Throughout the years he had the fortune to record and/or perform with artists such as:

On the Road con Idris Ackamoor & The Pyramids
by Gioele Pagliaccia
Quel giorno caricai ...

Credentials/Background
I've been regularly teaching the art of playing the drums to kids and adults for the last 20 years. In more recent times I started incorporating into my program percussions from around the world such as congas, bongos and various frame drums like the Indian Kanjira and the traditional Italian frame drum used for "Pizzica", and "Tarantella" . I found the south Indian method for learning rhythms "Konnakol" to be a wonderful tool for students to internalize rhythms & patterns, although I use all kinds of old school and modern strategies to help my students get to the next level
