Gregory Herbert, one of the most talented saxophonists of his generation, was born in jny: Philadelphia 67 years ago this month. After a brief engagement with Duke Ellington when he was 17, Herbert spent four years as a music major at Temple University in his hometown, concentrating on alto saxophone, clarinet and flute. Saxophonist Rob Scheps will pay tribute to late tenor great Gregory Herbert on the 25th Anniversary of his death. Vancouver drummer Morgan Childs will join Scheps at The Upstage in Port Townsend, WA this Wednesday January 29th from 7:00 to 8:30pm. The duo will play pieces associated with Greg Herbert and recordings and remembrances of Herbert.
