In 2010 Iman worked together with some of the finest musicians in the Netherlands to record his own music on his first cd with his own group; flute player Mark Lotz, trumpet player Gerard Kleijn, guitarist Marzio Scholten and saxophonist Marike van Dijk joined in to play beautiful arrangements made by Iman. In 2008, 2009 and 2010 he has been on tour with the European Union Quartet to Belgium, Holland, UK and Ireland. He had radio and television appearances with the New Generation Big Band, such as a live-tv show 'Een van de Acht' on NL 2 hosted by Hennie Huisman.

Rodrigo Faina and Change Ensemble: Different Roots
by Jerome Wilson
This is not the usual large ensemble jazz recording. Instead of having instrumental groups play against each other, this music moves largely as a massed force with only sparing solo statements. It carries the gravity and weight of classical music and mixes in the harmonies and colors of jazz composers like Gil Evans and Kenny Wheeler with occasional blasts of other musical forms like rock and tango. It is the work of Rodrigo Faina, a composer born and raised in ...

The cohesive and captivating Different Roots is Rotterdam- based guitarist and composer Rodrigo Faina's cinematic debut for the Red Piano label. For this six-part suite, Faina draws inspiration from three literary works from his native Argentina, two by Julio Cortazar and one by Jorge Luis Borges. On this genre-defying release, Faina also conducts the Change Ensemble which consists of several accomplished European, primarily Dutch, musicians. In fact, Faina utilizes the orchestra as a single unit at times and ...

Captain Hook proudly presents their third album Plunge! Saturday the 2nd of July 2011 at de Melkweg in Amsterdam. Captain Hook is a funk jazz quintet from the Netherlands. They play high-energy grooves with catchy melodies and freaky improvisations. 70's-fender rhodes sounds go together with nu-beats, heavy guitar riffs and bebopish saxophone licks. Captain Hook delivers a cool now-a-days mix of dansable jazz and exciting soundscapes. The five bandmembers of Captain Hook are clearly acquainted with each other and have ...
