Jasen Weaver's journey from New Orleans to Brussels has been marked by notable achievements and contributions to the jazz world. Weaver's musical education under luminaries like Donald Harrison and Jason Marsalis has undoubtedly influenced his artistry and provided him with a strong foundation in jazz. His experiences touring with esteemed artists such as Black Art Jazz Collective, China Moses, and Jeremy Pelt have expanded his musical horizons and allowed him to showcase his talents to audiences worldwide.
Not only recognized for his prowess as a performer, Weaver has also left his mark as a recording artist, contributing to albums by notable musicians like Adonis Rose, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Joe Dyson, and Dr. John. These collaborations speak to his versatility and ability to adapt his playing style to various musical contexts.
Weaver will be releasing his new EP, “The Move”, in Spring 2025. This project chronicles his life-changing decision to relocate to Europe in 2019 and his efforts to embrace his new cultural surroundings while holding onto his identity as a New Orleanian. Recorded at Marigny Studios in New Orleans, “The Move” features some of the most prominent artists on the New Orleans music scene today including: Steve Lands on trumpet, Rex Gregory on alto/soprano saxophones, Derek Douget on tenor saxophone, Shea Pierre on piano & Fender Rhodes and Gerald Watkins on drums.
