Laurie Dapice

Laurie D´apice hails from the small CNY town of Utica NY. Her gifts were recognized by Susan Endy, a music teacher in Lauries's high school of Clinton NY. She was prompted by her teacher to audition for All County- All state & NY State choir making all three. Laurie had a dream of becoming a singer from the age of 14. She began to study with International renowned Tenor Pasquale Caputo where she studied Classically for 5 years. She then relocated to NYC to chase her dreams. She caught the attention of 6 judges while auditioning for the Metropolitan Opera which lead her to an audition for Mannes College of Music. She studied music her 1st year there. Her Vocal Coach there suggested she audition for The New School University of Jazz & Contemporary Music. Miss Dapice auditioned & was accepted at one of the most sought out Jazz University's in the World. Miss Dapice earned a Bachelors Degree of Fine Arts in Performance & Music. One year later she was on her way to Nagoya Japan to perform a 3 month Headlining gig where she performed live Jazz 6 nights a week. Upon returning back the US, Laurie planned to record her 1st album. After a grueling plan, she recorded "Parting the Veil" @ Bennett Studios owned by Dae & Tony Bennett in Englewood NJ. After independ-antly releasing her debut CD, it was given rave reviews & was chosen as one of the " Best Jazz Cds" of 2016 by 3 Jazz Critics in 5 categories by the Jazz Journalist Association. In between pursuing her degree, performing in Japan & recording her highly acclaimed debut album, Miss D´apice has performed at the Apollo Theater, the Alhambra Ballroom, Dream-Lexington & the Marriott Hotels, opened for Jazz Trombonist Benny Powell, opened the Hudson River Museums Amphitheater & performed in a month long Celebration for Ella Fitzgerald by Jazz Forums Presenter Mark Morganelli in Ella's home town of Yonkers NY, performed at a concert she curated for Ella´s 100th Bday. with singers Amy London & Marion Cowings that was sold out @ the Zinc Bar in the NYC,headlined in the Levitt AMP Music Series at Landmark Museum Munson Williams Proctor Art Institute's 300 seat Theater back home that was sold out & most recently performed with Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra & Wynton Marsalis in the Chautauqua Jazz Festival. Phrasing is important. The top jazz vocalists are experts at laying down the elastic--or the sharp and concise--turn of phrase. New York-based vocalist Laurie Dapice excels in this regard.
