I love jazz because it allows musicians to continually find new and creative ways to express themselves. I was first exposed to jazz in high school (by a girl I was trying to date). I met Paul Jackson Jr. at the 2011 NAMM show. He is my all-time favorite guitarist. The best show I ever attended is yet to come but every one I've seen to-date has been fantastic! The first jazz record I bought was Herbie Hancock, V.S.O.P. My advice to new listeners, really learn to listen to all of the instruments--not just your favorite. Pay attention to what they're playing and when they're NOT playing (the silent places).
