My ArticlesMy Jazz Story
I love jazz because...it inspires me, moves me and satisfies my soul. I was first exposed to jazz...by my friend Rocky Sullivan, who was listening to Coltrane one day while I was hanging out with his son. I didn't understand it, but it intrigued me. I've been so lucky in my life to meet Pat Martino, George Benson, Ted Dunbar, Jimmy Heath, Rodney Jones...the list would be too long to name them all. The best show I ever attended was...tough question! I'll say Pat Martino with his trio at the Blue Note around 2015 with Larry Coryell and Vic Juris in a duo opening. The first jazz record I bought was..."We'll Be Together Again" by Pat Martino, and I didn't dig it! Now of course, it's an all-time favorite. My advice to new listeners...listen to everything. And just about everything is available now. Or whatever else you have in mind.
