Nick Davies
A jazz broadcaster who likes to discover new players and interpretations of the genre from different parts of the world.
About Me
In terms of music as far back as I can remember I have always
loved music and was playing my Mum and Dads record collection
from a early age on my very own second hand record player. It was
not soul or jazz but rock and roll and crooner’s from a collection
of 78’s that I had been given. There was not a day when I did not
have some form of musical tune in my head and I always felt that I
needed more. I was exposed to Jazz during the 1980's by listening
to pirate radio in London and have developed this love of the
genre as I have got older.
I now have the privilege of broadcasting two radio shows, one
where Jazz features heavily and the second is a jazz based show. I
am always on the lookout for new artists and have had the chance
of interviewing people for both shows from all over the world.
If I was asked for jazz music influences I would always say both
Miles Davis and Bill Evans as I find their music timeless.
My Jazz Story
I love jazz because it takes me on a journey and I never quite know where it will end. From Miles to Bill Evans to Coltrane to Tin Men and the Telephone each song tells a story and takes me to places I have never been Its a mind changer, an influencer and brings pure happiness; maybe an education becuase each little trip in my mind leaves me wanting more and more. Thats what jazz is to me.
