Ozenc Duzenli
Ozenc, known affectionately as Ozzy, is a talented guitarist hailing from the vibrant city of London, United Kingdom. His musical journey began at the young age of 11, as he immersed himself in the captivating world of rock and blues. However, it was a fortuitous encounter with the esteemed Jazz Guitarist Cameron Pierre, known for his collaborations with UK Jazz icons Courtney Pine and Byron Wallen, that ignited Ozzy's fascination with jazz music.
At the tender age of 13, Ozzy found himself performing inside the prestigious Barbican alongside musicians from Jazz at Lincoln Centre. This pivotal experience left an indelible mark on him, kindling a deep passion for music and the exhilaration of live performance.
Determined to nurture his musical talents, Ozzy embarked on a formal music education at Middlesex University in London. Under the guidance of instructors Al Cherry and Stuart Hall, he embarked on a profound exploration of the legacies of jazz legends like Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Bud Powell, and Barry Harris. It was during this period that Ozzy's aspiration to one day reside in the heart of the jazz universe, New York City, began to crystallize.
In 2017 and 2018, Ozzy had the privilege of attending workshops led by the legendary Barry Harris. This experience opened doors for him, ultimately leading to his move to the bustling streets of New York City in 2019. Settling in the Big Apple, Ozzy embraced the opportunity to attend Barry Harris' enriching classes regularly and honed his craft under the mentorship of the world-renowned guitar virtuoso Pasquale Grasso. Simultaneously, he pursued a Master's degree in Music at the Conservatory of Music at Purchase College, guided by exceptional educators such as Jon Faddis and Gary Smulyan.
Today, Ozzy divides his time between the energetic rhythms of New York City and the vibrant music scene of London. A recent graduate of the Conservatory of Purchase College, he has left an indelible mark on stages and events across the UK, gracing venues such as The Chickenshed Theatre, The Vortex Jazz Club, Pizza Express Holborn, The Hackney Empire, and the Lancaster Jazz Festival. His artistic collaborations, including his co-leadership of the band Yiasena with Sofia Roubati, have taken him to international stages like the Preveza Jazz Festival in Northern Greece, Booze Cooperativa in Athens, and Neuf in Athens. In the heart of New York City, Ozzy has orchestrated remarkable residencies with his Trio, gracing venues like The Rum House and Melody's Piano Bar.
