Renee Collins Georges
Renée Collins Georges, is a Los Angeles, California native, who has carved out a career as a vocalist, voice over talent, songwriter and teaching artist. Always using her voice to entertain and educate, Renée is a vocalist, songwriter (ASCAP), voiceover talent, Recording Academy member (DC Chapter), and teaching artist (Arts for Learning in Baltimore, Maryland, and Arlington County Public Schools); A 2017 Mid Atlantic Jazz Vocal Competition finalist; a Jenga Music LLC Voice Coach, and a 2015 Grant Award recipient of the DC Arts and Humanities, Creative Sparks Initiative. She is the Founder, Executive/Creative Director of Kidz MusiQ Club LLC, Jazzing Up Learning!™ (a music arts initiative with the goal to introduce, entertain and promote jazz appreciation for children and teens). Renée’s love for Jazz and children evolved into a family collaboration known as Kidz MusiQ Club. She began collaborating with her husband, trombonist DuPort Georges, to write educational songs after her son was born. The goal: for kids have fun through music while learning essential concepts, such as reading, listening, and retention skills. The program she and her family created introduces kids to acoustic music and furthers an appreciation for the American genre of music (jazz). Her passions include: singing and teaching vocal music; media arts, and providing jazz entertainment to adults, children and youth. She enjoys teaching vocal music summer camps and workshops, as has offered arts-integrated workshops through the Baltimore City Public Schools, Maryland Summer READS program. The daughter of a gospel singer, Renée’s humble beginnings began in the church childrens choir, in school music programs, and at local events in her native city, Los Angeles. She landed her first professional gig on the Too Legit to Quit Tour with rapper MC Hammer. Her professional music journey took wings with this experience. Once again while working for an L.A. music agent, on a chance, she sent a résumé with a recording of her voice to the management company of an artist she greatly admired. Her timing was right, and she landed a spot as a “Raelette,” singing and touring with the legendary Ray Charles and His Orchestra. Renée works hard as a music, media and arts contributor, sharing the lessons learned from Charles and her mother, Mattie Collins. She traveled four continents as one of the last five Raelettes with Ray Charles. Now, she hones the skills she learned from the legendary performer. She is committed to using her voice and skills to entertain audiences; and her passion for music, to cultivate future generations of jazz listeners.
