One of the most intriguing elements of saxophonists Tineke Postma's and Greg Osby's superb Sonic Halo is the way the co-leaders overlap their individual voices to create a uniquely multifaceted and harmonically integrated entity. Both Postma and Osby double on alto and soprano and their ideas, whether spontaneous or prewritten, flow seamlessly between them. This sublime exchange of musical concept is not at the expense of either artist's distinctive style. The percolating, turbulent rhythmic vamps form the backdrop for ...

JAZZ (magazine) Dick Hovenga June 1, 2009 **** 1/2 • Every new album demonstrates that Tineke Postma keeps improving. • ‘The Traveller’is a solid album which should give Postma worldfame • The ensemble playing is impeccable. • The musicians offer the perfect base for Postma, who exceeds herself once again. Her playing is one time warm and sober, the next time lyrical and overwhelming.
JAZZISM (magazine) Coen de Jonge June 1, 2009 **** • Tineke Postma recorded a glorious album in New York. • On the CD “The Traveller” Tineke has obviously found her own gracious style. • The album radiates a great deal of confidence. The pieces are accessible, yet bear a benificial complexity.
