Each month we'll pair two recent jazz CDs with the latest releases from the AAJ Wine Club . This month we're pairing Fess Parker's Mackie's Blend Central Coast Syrah with The Frank & Joe Show's 33 1/3 and Lange Winery's Pinot Blanc with David Hazeline's Close To You.

Fess Parker
Mackie's Blend Central Coast Syrah
2000

Specifications
Appellation: Central Coast, CA.
Vinetard Sources: 36% Rodney's (Santa Ynez Valley), 31% Meeker (Paso Robles), 15% Wild Rose (Lodi)
Varietals: 78% Syrah, 12% Genache, 10% Carignane pH: 3.81
Total Acidity: 0.532 g
Alcohol Content: 13.6%
Barrel Aging: 100% Barrel aged for 7 months

Tasting Notes: A Syrah with a nicely focused core of dark, rich blueberry, cherry and plum fruits and moderate tannins. These elements are complemented by sweet spices, mint, smoke, meat and earthy notes.

Robert Parker rates the wine with 88 points: "Luscious, seductive, medium dark reuby/purple-colored offering, it reveals notes of dried herbs, mint, licorice, and red as well as black currants. It reminded me of a top-class Crozes-Hermitage from France's Rhone Valley. It will drink well for 3-4 years."

Goes with this CD: The Frank & Joe Show's 33 1/3

Lange Winery
Pinot Blanc
2002

Specifications
Varietal: 100% Pinot Blanc
Appellation: North Willamette Valley, Oregon

Winemaker's Notes: Produced in the traditional style of an Alsatian Pinot Blanc, this wine is bone dry with very refreshing acidity and great aromas and flavors. A natural with oysters on the half-shell or baked halibut; get ready for Spring and Summer with this refreshing white wine. Another Lange winner.

Goes with this CD: David Hazeline's Close To You
