Zach Malian
Drummer, Zach Malian (b. 2002) is an emerging young musician on the New York City jazz scene today. Growing up in Providence, Rhode Island, Zach was immersed in the rich musical culture of the Boston and New York areas from a young age, sparking his passion for jazz.
As a recent graduate of SUNY Purchase College, Zach had the privilege of learning from world-renowned musicians including Kenny Washington, Joe Farnsworth, Matt Wilson, and Jon Faddis, among many others. Zach was selected to participate in the esteemed 2023 Ravinia Jazz Grandstand program in Highland Park, IL. At Ravinia, Zach had the opportunity to work with legends Rufus Reid, Steve Wilson, and Billy Childs to debut his original composition, “Roadwork”.
Zach has performed at venues such as Smalls, Cafe Bohemia, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, Ornithology, and Minton’s Playhouse, with various artists including The Octet (ft. Stella Cole, Tyreek McDole, Caelan Cardello), Pete Malinverni, Leonid Morozov, Jason Clotter, and Alex Minasian.
Furthermore, Zach explores new artistic horizons as an occasional bandleader through performances with his ensemble, the Zach Malian Trifecta.
