Walter Goldstein
Music and drumming have been my passion since the age of eleven. Growing up in Forest Hills NY, I had a number of friends who also shared this love of music and I subsequently worked in many different bands and associations. Initially, rock and progressive rock were catching my ear. In 1974 my best friend's father took us to see Buddy Rich's sextet (Basie sat in) at his then new NYC nightclub Buddy's Place. That experience caused me to become completely immersed in jazz. In the years that followed I had been fortunate to have seen many of our jazz masters in person which has deeply enriched my life. I have had formal study with Henry Adler, Barry Altschul and Joe Morello. Since the 1980's I have alternated between Jazz, Rock and Blues projects/bands. Some folks I have worked with: Afraid of the Dark, Doomster, Michael Marcus, Frank Lowe, Steve Swell, Roy Campbell, Dennis Mitcheltree, Beyond Belief, Enis, The K's, Ian Lloyd (Stories), Jonathan Kalb, The Frankie Marra Band, The Resistance, Cellini Venus. I am currently accepting a limited number of students for drum instruction in Staten Island NY where I reside with my two children.
